Michael Herzog

Michael Herzog is a hedge fund manager and partner with New York based hedge fund Davidson Kempner Capital Management.

Herzog joined Davidson Kempner in August 2001 to help the firm build its European Equity business, opening the London office in November 2001. In his capacity as a portfolio manager, he currently co-manages DK’s global risk arbitrage and global long / short equities businesses. In 2011, Davidson Kempner launched the The European Opportunities International fund helmed by Herzog, Chris Krishanthan, Zach Gozali and Darren Curtis.

Professional History

In 1992, Herzog began his career as a corporate tax consultant. He then moved to UBS Warburg in 1995, working as an Associate in the Investment Banking Division until 1998.

In 1998, Herzog joined Merrill Lynch International, working as a Vice President in the Mergers and Acquisitions Division until 2001. While at Merrill, Herzog worked deals such as BBA Group’s sale of Automotive Friction to HSBC’s Private Equity Ltd and Dairy Crest Group’s offer for Unigate’s Dairy and Cheese Business.

Awards and Designations

Herzog holds an Investment Managers Certificate from the Securities Institute (need full name of this entity) and is a Chartered Accountant (ACA). Herzog is an avid rugby player and was Captain of School 1st XV and the University Law faculty rugby team while at the University of Birmingham.
