Located in Colorado and operated by Co-Directors Michael Orlans, M.A., D.A.P.A., and Terry Levy, Ph.D., B.C.F.E., the Evergreen Psychotherapy Center specializes in treating attachment disorders and other effects of child maltreatment. These disorders arise when a child lacks a secure attachment to his or her parents or caregivers, often resulting from abuse or neglect. With 21 percent of children in the United States between 9 and 17 affected by mental or addictive disorders, the problem is pervasive. The Evergreen Psychotherapy Center is passionate about not only diagnosing and treating these disorders, but healing them through a carefully developed therapy system as well.

The Evergreen Psychotherapy Center works with children and their family together, identifying potential issues in the family unit that contribute to the child’s attachment issues. The Evergreen Psychotherapy Center’s Master Therapists approach treatment holistically, creating strong attachment patterns between parents and children, children and siblings, and members of the family as a whole. Designed for children with reactive attachment disorder, the Evergreen Psychotherapy Center’s “Two Week Intensive” program provides three-hour treatment sessions each weekday. During these sessions, the Evergreen Psychotherapy Center’s therapists interact with the child and parents or, while parents observe on an outside monitor, the child alone. By identifying the root cause of the disorder and educating parents, the Evergreen Psychotherapy Center remedies even severe attachment disorders.

Designed by Terry Levy and Michael Orlans, the Evergreen Psychotherapy Center’s treatments have been tested, and clinical research shows that their Corrective Attachment Therapy remedies various attachment disorders. Significant gains were recorded in each of six symptom categories, with results often maintained three years after treatment. The Evergreen Psychotherapy Center also hosts educational seminars on the topic, open to professionals and academics.
