Michael Simons
Cardiologist in New Haven, Connecticut
After receiving his undergraduate degree in biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Cambridge, Dr. Michael Simons enrolled in a medical program at the Yale University School of Medicine. He graduated cum laude in 1984 and began his medical training as an internal medicine intern and resident at the New England Medical Center. Between 1991 and 2001, Dr. Michael Simons occupied various teaching roles at the Harvard Medical School in Boston. He spent the following seven years as the A.G. Huber professor of medicine at Dartmouth Medical School in Lebanon, New Hampshire, while also teaching courses in pharmacology and toxicology. In 2008, he returned to the Yale University School of Medicine as a professor with tenure.
Over the last seven years, Dr. Simons has served the university in a number of ways. His present positions include Robert W. Berliner professor of medicine, professor of cell biology, and director of the Yale Cardiovascular Research Center, of which he is the founder. He also serves as an honorary professor with University College London (UCL) after having spent a year as the UCL British Heart Foundation Visiting Professor.
