A former financial and investment executive, Michael T. Jackson lived and worked in Belvedere, California, before retiring to Florida. He came to the West Coast to pursue his master of business administration at the University of Southern California. After graduating from USC, Mr. Jackson served as an investment analyst and portfolio manager on Wall Street in New York. He spent 10 years with Baker Fentress & Co. as a senior portfolio manager, playing a key role in generating returns totaling 200 percent of the S&P 500.
In 1982, Michael T. Jackson moved to Belvedere, California and established an investment partnership with Hambrecht and Quist in San Francisco. He led the firm as general partner for four years, before starting the hedge fund Emerging Growth Management. Successful in creating investment strategies that garnered large returns, he grew the firm from $875,000 to $1.2 billion. He expanded the company into a family of hedge funds and built one of the best records of performance in industry history, earning a chapter in the widely acclaimed book Investment Visionaries.
As the founder of Napa Medical Research Foundation, Michael T. Jackson has dedicated his retirement to helping nonprofit organizations grow and expend to better serve their communities. He and his wife Pepper are generous donors to the California Pacific Medical Center, where seven of their grandchildren came into the world. The couple enjoys visiting their nine grandchildren and four children, who still reside in the Bay Area.
