Michele Sherwin

Working primarily with children who have special needs and those on the autism spectrum, Michele Sherwin has effectively developed and implemented programs for children, parents, and teaching professionals that demonstrate how they can work together to improve a student's learning and home environment.

Drawing on her extensive training and professional development, Michele Sherwin began her career as a kindergarten teacher at Athenian Academy in Flushing, New York. Next, she joined Maimonides School in Far Rockaway, New York, as a teacher of students with moderate special needs, before moving to Massachusetts to teach students with severe special needs at Belchertown State School in Belchertown, Massachusetts.

In 1999, Michele Sherwin directed the launch of the PDD/Autism Spectrum Disorder Tadpole Program, a new, language-based program aimed at preschool students in Taunton Public Schools. Ms. Sherwin has served in her current position as a consultant and Educational Therapist for Speech, Language, and Hearing Associates of Greater Boston since 2005.

Earning both a Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education and a Master's in Special Education from Queens College, City University of New York, where she graduated magna cum laude, Michele Sherwin is currently pursuing her doctoral degree in Special Education in the College of Professional Studies at Northeastern University.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Michele Sherwin supports several charitable organizations, including the Autism Association and the Muscular Dystrophy Association. She resides in Franklin, Massachusetts, with her husband and two children. In her spare time, she enjoys gardening, music, and traveling. She is also an accomplished violin player who hails from a family of musicians.
