Michelle Villarreal

Hello my name is Michelle Villarreal, you can also call me the "PR Gal", I am a 2010 graduate of St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas where I graduated with honors earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Media Communication specializing in Public Relations and Advertising.

While in college, I interned with Public Strategies, INC., a crisis management public relations firm where I worked as an Research and Intelligence Fellow reporting on media trends and public opinion of clients including, but not limited to, several Fortune 500 corporations. I also interned with I Live Here, I Give Here, a nonprofit dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of philanthropy in Central Texas, an umbrella of the Austin Community Foundation. At this organization, I worked with the non-profit executive team to develop community events, fundraisers, merchandise, and public awareness.

Prior to joining Hidalgo County as the Public Affairs Specialist, I was employed with The University of Texas-Pan American Human Resources Department. My Interests include: fishing, reading, kayaking, art, photography, and all things "Social Media"! I have grown so much while working with Hidalgo County and have been inspired to continue learning as much as I can about social media and would eventually like to open a consulting business in which I can help others, be it company's or individuals, with their social media needs!
