Mitchell ( Mickey) Fried, DPS

Mitch Fried was raised in Westchester County NY, Mitch became interest in bullying and cyber bullying 25 years ago when his son was a victim. As a result, Mitch began to education parents, teachers and students about bullying/cyber bullying. Mitch Fried was a teacher for 36 years, in public education before he retired. Six years ago Mitch join a team at a local college and became an Instructional Designer, working with faculty to enrich their teaching techniques in the classroom.. He now leads this team as an Interim Director for The Center for Teaching and Learning, he also teaches as an Adjunct Professor. In 2014, Mitch joined the Board of Directors of GLSEN Hudson Valley and has been active in every aspect of the organization.

After graduating from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1979 with a BA in education in Elementary Education, he pursued his Master Degree in 1984 in Administration/Supervision from Fordham University. Mitch received his doctorate from Pace University in Computer Science/Technology, concentrating on research with Cyber bulling and Teachers.

As an educator, Mitch has had the opportunity to evaluate many education programs, such as Responsive Classroom, Curriculum Development in Math, Reading, Social Studies, and Science and Technology. As a member of the Association, Mitch has had the opportunity to evaluate the effectiveness of the executive boards designated roles. Revamping the role responsibility allowed the board to work together more cohesively and smarter. As the liaison between the Association and the Health Coop, Mitch evaluated the effectiveness of the current plan with the members using the benefits. Currently, Dr. Fried is an interim Directorfor The Center for Teaching and Learning as well as an adjunct professor at a local college.

Mitch has earned numerous awards for his accomplishments as an educator, Parent-Teacher Association, Jenkins Award, and honor societies and received the Excellence Adjunct Award. He has been featured in Teacher Magazines with his work with children. He was published articles on teaching and learning. He is a lifelong learner who is a big fan of social media.
