Originally from Wilmington, NC, and now a current resident of Durham, NC. I Shaniquah Cook am a senior at North Carolina Central University who will be obtaining a degree in Social Work in December 2015. Just completing my field practicum this past summer working under Mr. James Johnston the Executive Director at the Boys and Girls Club, and Mrs. Laura Armstrong an Adjunct Clinical Instructor at NCCU I completed 400+ hours as a volunteer for the Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club, I completed the Safe from Harm Training, Kramden computer classes, assisted with the walking classroom program, Vacation Bible school, along with conducting the Smarts Girls program, I also gain some knowledge about Triple P (planned parenting program), and was present for the Situational Leadership Training in Cary, NC. After completing my field practicum I was offered a part time position working with the youth after school. The Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club mission is to "To enable all young people especially those who need us most to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring" , which I try to do through the different programs offered.
One who know me might say I am a focused and goal oriented young lady who is very supportive, and a great organizer, an excellent role model, who displays great leadership skills and is always willing to help others without hesitation. I value God, my family and friends. Most importantly I am really committed to whatever I put my hands to. In my spare time I like to hangout with my friends, listen to music, and event planning. I am a proud member of 100 Black Women and was active on the Student Activity Board for the 2014-2015 school year at North Carolina Central University.
When I obtain my degree in December my plan is to work in the field to gain experience in hopes of returning to school to get my masters.
