Throughout her career she has worked closely with Local, regional and national government, businesses and community groups to improve public services and promote positive economic and social change. Murziline Parchment attended several institutions while obtaining her qualifications, including Southampton University and the Council of Legal Education in London. As a barrister specialising in public and planning law she worked on regeneration projects developing her leadership and project management skills. This work includes advising on Kings Cross development, South Bank development and business improvement districts.
Her work on establishing the Greater London Authority and on the Boards of several organisations, including Transport for London, the London Ambulance Service and the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games has placed her in a unique position to improve public services in London and develop city strategies and policies.
She has worked with older people groups to establish the older people’s strategy, centre and work programme in London. Her work with the National Council for One Parent Families increased affordable childcare provision. Working alongside women's groups she secured improvements in safety on London's public transport.
She led the design, development and implementation of free travel for young people in London, which has allowed many children throughout the city wonderful opportunities. She worked with business leaders, colleges, teaching unions and governors to set up the London Skills and Employment Board. She also worked on setting up the innovative Tower Hamlets Energy Coop which reduced residents’ household fuel costs.
These projects and her continued dedication to work which promotes positive change has established Murziline Parchment as a trusted figure amongst her colleagues and a wide range of communities.
