Mission

The National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ) at Syracuse University is dedicated to the recognition and professional advancement of Hispanics/Latinos in the news industry. NAHJ is committed to continuing to create a national voice and unified vision for all Hispanic Journalists.

General Information

Chapter History: Syracuse University Chapter was established on November 15, 2005 by a group of eager students interested in supporting Latino culture in the media within the SU campus.

Our Vision:

  • To organize and provide mutual support for Hispanics/Latinos involved in the gathering or dissemination of news.
  • To encourage and support the study and practice of journalism and communications by Hispanics/Latinos.
  • To foster and promote a fair treatment of Hispanics/Latinos by the media.
  • To further the employment and career development of Hispanics/Latinos in the media.
  • To encourage a greater understanding of Hispanic/Latino media professionals' special cultural identity, interests, and concerns.
  • To promote issues that affect the Hispanic/Latino community.
  • To further the influence and awareness of Hispanics/Latinos in the media.
  • To create a network in which current/new members can connect with NAHJ journalists.
