Nelson Clemmens

The Owner and Chief Executive Officer of AmWest Entertainment, the Thoroughbred racing simulcast, OTB and online wagering company headquartered in Prospect, Kentucky, Nelson Clemmens holds a B.A. in Finance from Stetson University and a Master of Business Administration from Western Kentucky University. To augment, present and inform his work with AmWest, Nelson Clemmens holds membership in multiple industry associations and regularly attends events such as the Global Symposium on Racing, G2E, Equestricon, and the Asian Racing Conference. He also maintains a professional interest in Thoroughbred breeding and racing, including proper care, placement or retraining of retired equine athletes.
Nelson Clemmens held executive and principal positions in the world of corporate finance and investment banking before entering the Thoroughbred racing industry in the early 2000s. He founded and operated the investment funding firm, Pine South Capital, and held investment interests in other sectors that have ranged from health care to manufacturing. Mr. Clemmens has also served as a Trustee with Stetson University and on the Board of Advisors with Western Kentucky University.
