Nia has a diverse background in education, social justice scholarship and pedagogy, intuitive counseling, and holistic healing. Establishing and maintaining a sense of community is paramount in her work with individuals and teams seeking to gain optimal success with work/life balance, conflict management, compassion in work related missions, writing projects, and knowledge-based approaches to culturally and linguistically relative pedagogy and institutional policy-making.
A lifelong learner, Nia continues to build on her education as a humanist with a BA in English (Savannah State University), an MA in Rhetoric and Composition (University of Louisville), and doctoral course work in Pan African Studies (UofL) where she served as the Department Newsletter’s Chief Editor. She is a certified Diversity Trainer and a Master/Teacher with over 20 years of experience in the art and practice of Reiki and intuitive counseling.
Nia has contributed to tutor training development at the Jefferson Community and Technical College in Louisville Kentucky, created an employee resource guide for a national nutrition program developed in Detroit, Michigan, and has also developed curriculum, student orientation materials, and facilitated writing workshops at YouthBuild Louisville, a non-profit organization which champions teens and young adults. Most recently, she provided consultation and resource assessment around culturally and linguistically relevant Professional Development programs and community engagement for The Aspire Institute at Boston University.
Nia believes mindfulness and accountability are invaluable tools for success and is currently writing a book based on a journaling process she has shared with clients, for over 20 years, as part of her commitment to promote and support self/community empowerment and harmonious as well as just living.Nia is available for personal and business consultations and to speak on a variety of issues that impact our ability to live, speak, learn and teach from our hearts.
