The recipient of a doctor of medicine (MD) from the University of Colorado, Dr. Norman Brooks is an experienced board-certified dermatologist who was mentored by Frederic E. Mohs, MD, the creator of the Mohs method of skin cancer treatment. Throughout his 40-year career in the medical field, Dr. Norman Brooks has refined the Mohs method to offer higher cure rates to patients he treats as director of the Skin Cancer Medical Center in Encino, California. Additionally, he has authored numerous peer-reviewed medical journal articles and delivered multiple presentations on the Mohs technique.
Prior to joining the Skin Cancer Medical Center, Dr. Norman Brooks served as an assistant clinical professor with UCLA School of Medicine's division of dermatology from 1978 to 2003. In 1981, he received the school's Outstanding Teaching Award in General Internal Medicine. Supplementing his career pursuits, Dr. Brooks holds membership with the American Society of Dermatopathology, the American Academy of Dermatology, and the San Fernando Valley Dermatologic Society.
Between completing residencies in internal medicine and dermatology, he served two years in the United States Air Force before being honorably discharged as a major in 1973. He continues to support nonprofits that benefit military servicemen and donates regularly to animal protection organizations. In his leisure time, Dr. Norman Brooks enjoys hiking, attending Broadway shows, and watching his grandson play basketball and baseball.
