Oliver Mills-Nanyn
Experienced deckhand in United Kingdom
Oliver Mills-Nanyn previously lived in the south of Spain – where he was able to take advantage of the opportunity to enjoy pursuits such as windsurfing, sailing and kayaking – and has worked in the position of deckhand since March 2022. He has achieved qualifications including Superyacht Deck Maintenance, Efficient Deckhand, MCA PDSD, RYA Marine Radio SRC and RYA Yachtmaster Offshore, and he is currently working towards his OOW 3000GT. Oliver has also undertaken the RYA Tender Operator Course, the MCA Approved Engine Course 1 and STCW Basic Safety Training.
When he’s not working, Oliver loves to experience new locations and their cultures and cuisines; his passion for adventure was reignited following a recent trip to India, where he took on the challenge of cycling from the north to the south of the country. Oliver is also a keen photographer and looks forward to one day being able to combine this interest with life on board ship.
The destination that Oliver has most loved visiting to date is the Seychelles, where he was based for over a month. He is both interested in and knowledgeable regarding the so-called golden age of piracy, making the Seychelles, as the reputed location of Olivier Levasseur’s treasure, the perfect destination for him. Prior to this, Oliver was based in Italy for five months after extensively travelling throughout the Mediterranean.
As well as water sports in general, Oliver likes to read (particularly philosophy and adventure books), listen to music and drive; he has a general interest in cars and keeps up to date with automotive trends and newly released models.
