Owen Tripp

For the past five years, Owen Tripp has been part of the executive management team at the leading online privacy protection and reputation management company, Reputation.com. Mr. Tripp established the Silicon Valley firm (then ReputationDefender.com) in 2006 with Michael Fertik and now serves as Chief Operating Officer. Working out of Reputation.com’s Redwood City, California, headquarters, Owen Tripp heads corporate development, marketing and sales channels strategy, and product fulfillment operations.

Overseeing the company’s revenue platform, he has responsibility for the development of new product offerings. Mr. Tripp’s leadership has earned Reputation.com a market-defining position among consumers wanting to create dynamic web presences, make their personal information less visible online, and repair their reputations. He notably developed the company’s core products that accomplish these goals, including the MyPrivacy and MyEdge (now ReputationDefender) services.

Owen Tripp has gained industry recognition as an expert in security technologies, with a particular knowledge of emerging threats in the social graph. He was one of 25 figures representing innovative companies selected as a 2011 World Economic Forum Technology Pioneer. Owen Tripp is also an Advisory Board Member with the Future of Privacy Forum, a U.S. think tank committed to the advancement of responsible data practices.

Beginning his professional career with Accenture in 2001, Owen Tripp directed a large-scale business operations centers in Southeast Asia. He managed more than 200 associates at a multi-shift business process outsourcing enterprise in Manila, Philippines. In 2004, Mr. Tripp joined eBay, Inc., serving the e-commerce leader and its family of affiliated companies, including PayPal, StubHub, and Rent.com. As founder of the firm’s User Behavior Intelligence team, he operated one of the industry’s most extensive data mining platforms, modeling and understanding buyer behavior. A cum laude graduate of Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut, Mr. Tripp subsequently completed MBA studies at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California. Owen Tripp lectures at a number of academic institutions on a regular basis, including the University of California, Berkeley’s Haas School of Business, the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business, and the Georgia Institute of Technology.
