Peter Joseph Chum is a Hong Kong-based executive coach, leadership consultant, and strategic advisor with over three decades of international experience in business development, talent management, and organisational transformation. He is the founder of Professional Talent Management Limited (PTM), a multidisciplinary consultancy offering executive coaching, leadership training, and strategic advisory services to corporate clients and institutions across Asia.
Peter holds a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) from the University of Wales Trinity Saint David, where his doctoral thesis explored the challenges and strategies in managerial coaching within Hong Kong’s corporate sector. He also holds an MBA from Ivey Business School (Western University, Canada), and two master’s degrees—one in Coaching and Mentoring Practice from Oxford Brookes University and another in Forensic Psychology & Psychodiagnostics.
Earlier in his career, Peter founded and led a financial brokerage firm specialising in bespoke investment solutions for Hong Kong’s ultra-high-net-worth individuals and institutional clients. The firm was later merged with Xinhua Finance, which became the first Chinese company to be listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange's Mothers Board in 2004.
Drawing from his cross-sector experience and academic grounding, Peter has developed two pioneering coaching frameworks—the Proactive Coaching Integration Framework (PCIF) and the PROPEL Coaching Model—which form the foundation of his books and leadership development programmes. His work integrates principles of proactive leadership, distributed decision-making, and human connection to empower executives, teams, and organisations to navigate complexity and drive meaningful change.
Peter remains deeply committed to nurturing the next generation of talent and has served in governance roles in the education and eldercare sectors in Hong Kong. His passion for lifelong learning and service continues to shape his contributions to the coaching profession and the wider business community.
