Peter Laufenberg

A graduate of the UC Berkeley School of Law, Peter Laufenberg is a partner with Wendel, Rosen, Black & Dean LLP in Oakland, California. In his practice, which focuses on risk management for large-scale real estate developers and contractors, Peter Laufenberg works extensively with real estate investment trusts, captive insurers, Fortune 500 companies, and leading developers. Also versed in insurance recovery, he has settled a number of large construction defect suits. Mr. Laufenberg remains one of the few attorneys in the nation who has recovered builders risk insurance benefits after a construction was damaged by fire and other forms of loss.

In addition, Peter Laufenberg has practiced California title insurance regulatory law for a decade, over which time he has developed key relationships with regulators at the California Department of Insurance. His services in this area include forming and licensing new underwritten title agents and helping existing entities expand their licensure.

Regarded as an expert in his field, Mr. Laufenberg is regularly invited to speak about issues related to risk management and insurance. He has edited the Insurance Litigation Reporter since 2006 and has twice earned the title Northern California Super Lawyer.
