Philip Oldfield
Writer, Project Manager, and Consultant in Exeter, United Kingdom
Philip holds an honours degree in Geography from the University of Exeter. He is reading for a Masters of Fine Arts – Creative Writing at Manchester Metropolitan University.
He was born in England. As a young child, he lived in New York and Connecticut for two years and still sees America as his second home. He has worked in the public, private and voluntary sectors in eclectic roles within policing, marketing, project management and economic development.
His three novels, featuring strong female protagonists, are published and available on Amazon. The genres are principally alternative history, a psychological thriller and a romantic comedy. Additionally, he has written a coming of age novella, a collection of flash fiction and short stories across a range of genres, such as crime & mystery, romance, horror, and science fiction. As geography – people, places and spaces – matter to him, it is not surprising his stories feature locations across England, Europe, North and South America and Australia.
He likes to travel, preferably by motorcycle, – he needs a new one – and his much-loved dream is to tour the world and ride from Alaska all the way down to the very tip of South America. There is something about being on a journey, meeting the new, the unexpected, the serendipity of life, which stirs his soul.
He is interested in people: the psychology of what makes us sapiens tick. His fascination with the workings of the human mind and its influence on behaviour is a wellspring for him. As a writer, he is inspired to create new life with all of its lightness and darkness and uses one of his many fountain pens – we all have penchants – or his hard-working, but most loyal of laptops.
Philip has eight novels underway; some are cross-genre, whilst others are historical, romance and fantasy. All will touch the world and its geography in unique ways.
