Gregory N Amour was born in the city of Maywood, Ca on Oct 11, 1951. He grew up in Montebello and graduated from Loyola Marymount University with a double major in English Literature and Political Science. He later received his Teaching Credentials in Adult and Secondary Education. He taught at a Catholic Girls’ school, English Literature, Social Studies and Religious Studies. After 20 years of teaching he spent a year in service for a Youth Leadership Training Program for the city of Santa Monica, California, and then proceeded to Operations Manager of a private business.
Gregory has written and received remuneration for a TV Script, Sacred Identities, and produced, directed and acted in a religious play, which received a standing ovation from an audience of 1000 people. He performed in seven stage plays.
He has written several hundred poems. When Professor Wortwilliams, who had corresponded frequently with Hemingway, read his poems, he made the following comment: “These are among the best writings I have read in American Literature.” At that time, Professor Wortwilliams was teaching at Cal State University, Los Angeles. Several of Gregory Amour’s poems have been featured in anthologies of American Poetry.
Gregory's uses his unique style of imagery and controlled meter and rhyme, along with play of contrasting opposites of psychological and spiritual elements of human nature throughout his writings.
