Dr Ian McCormick served as a Professor at the University of Northampton. He holds first-class degrees from the University of St Andrews (M.A.) and the University of Leeds (PhD).

My work has been featured on the BBC (Radio and TV); in the Times Literary Supplement, The Observer, The Guardian, TimeOut (London), and academic journal reviews.

My PhD was in the field of English literature and cultural history in the eighteenth century. I've also published and edited books on gothic literature and romanticism; John Dryden and T.S. Eliot; sexuality and gender studies; modern literature; the contemporary Scottish novel; teaching and learning strategies; drama education; literary/critical/cultural theory.

I am currently editing a collection of essays on Shakespeare and I'm writing the second volume of my satirical novel: Class and Cloister: the St Andrews Correspondence.

Awards and Prizes: King James VI Prize (1989); Lawson Memorial Prize (1985); British Academy Major State Research Studentship (1990-93)

During 2004-7 I raised £1.4m for nonprofit voluntary and community sector development. He is currently working on a book about Shakespearean tragedy.

At present I work as an academic tutor and writer. I also enjoy reading and writing literary fiction.
