I have been reading blogs for many years before deciding to have one of my own. Many years ago, I didn’t fully understand what blogging was. I would go on the internet, find interesting articles and read them. To me the people who wrote these articles were just normal writers. As time went on I began to notice that some of my favorite writers were calling themselves bloggers. At first when returning to certain websites I didn’t realize that independent people ran them; I thought that these writers worked for corporations. Keep in mind that I’m in my early thirties. When I was younger before the arrival of the internet many articles that I read were in magazines and newspapers owned by large corporations. A blogger can work for someone else; many of them do. In fact it could be argued that bloggers out number traditional writers. There are many independent bloggers like myself who own their own website and write on a consistent basis. There are also many bloggers who have helped change my life in many ways. When I was younger one of my dreams was to be a writer but back then and even now it isn’t easy to get published. The internet provided possibilities for self publishing. No more is it the case that in order to get published one must be at the mercy of someone else. With the internet you can self publish! I love blogging because I get to share my thoughts with my friends, relatives & others. After work I write my article for the next day and then when I hit the publish button, BAM, it’s on the net right away. For me it is a rush to know that something I created can be immediately available for others to read. The cool thing is that blogging doesn’t just have to always be text. You can post video blogs, “blogs”, and do podcasts. There really hasn’t been a better time to be a writer. In a nutshell that is why I love blogging, because it puts power into normal people’s hands to share their ideas with others. Remember, In today’s age of social media word spreads quicker than ever before so thinking before speaking can go a long way.
