His teaching career started in 1974. He is the Manager of Men’s Health programming for REAL MEN Charities, Board member of Black Wall Street Chicago, the Host and Executive Producer of TALKINGSUCCESS Cable TV Show, which has been running for the past 16 years on Chicago CAN-TV. This is just one of his many community service projects. He started his pursuit to become State Representative in the 26th District back in 2002; the incumbent at the time of 20+ years was Louvana "Lou" Jones. He followed up with a run in 2004, 2006, and 2008. Tatum supported Will Burns in 2008 after dropping out of the crowded field and lack of funds. Some feel that Burns won with the margin of victory due to Tatum Campaign supporters. TATUM knows that the people of the 26th District deserve the best possible representation.
