Barnett (Barney) Brickner

I am a Reform Rabbi currently serving Temple Israel in Alameda, California. For nearly a century, Temple Israel remains the sole Jewish congregation in Alameda. ( In 2020 we will celebrate our centennial anniversary.)

I am proud that our community is always looking at new ways to bring Jewish life into the hearts and homes of our membership. As a modern and progressive Jewish congregation, our open to allwho are aspiring to live a meaningful life rooted in Jewish communal culture and tradition.

I believe inclusion, not division, empathy, not is the future, and these core values are the cornerstones of my rabbinate.

My passions include, teaching, writing, gardening and boating. . I am a proud husband and father.
