An experienced portfolio manager for private and offshore funds, Reema Shah joined Columbia Seligman in 2000. The investment firm dates back to 1864 and is known for financing pioneering technology, including the early railroads. At the company, Reema Shah became part of the Seligman Technology Team in Silicon Valley. She served as Co-Portfolio Manager of the Seligman Communications and Information Portfolio and the Seligman Communications and Information Fund, Inc., one of the first mutual funds to focus on the developing technology revolution.
Prior to joining Seligman, Reema Shah acted as Vice President and Sell-Side Research Analyst at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette Securities Corporation. One of only two MBAs in the nation to achieve Sell-Side Research Analyst status directly out of business school, she developed financial models, launched several software firms, conferred with management teams, and authored researched reports. Reema Shah accepted a position with Seligman when the company acquired Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette.
In an earlier post, Reema Shah worked as an Investment Associate in Equity Research at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney LLC. In preparation for her career at Seligman and other top securities and investment firms, Reema Shah earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at the University of Pennsylvania, where she mentored children from underprivileged backgrounds through a campus program. At Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, she received a Master of Business Administration. In addition, Reema Shah completed a summer internship at Fayez Sarofim & Co., a Houston-based investment-management company. In this capacity, she researched potential investments, built financial models, and gained valued experience she later utilized in her career at Seligman.
Active in her community, Reema Shah has balanced her professional pursuits at Seligman with an extensive record of service, as a capital campaign committee member for Family House in San Francisco, and as a dedicated volunteer at Sacred Heart Schools in the Bay Area. She sat on the Peninsula Committee for Summer Search, helping to expand the organization, which seeks to assist and inspire youth from low-income families. Reema Shah also supports the San Francisco Food Bank, The American National Red Cross, the March of Dimes Foundation, and a Haiti relief fund.
