Rex Decker
I have formulated a plan for a comprehensive strategy that addresses illegal immigration, funding for a national healthcare plan, new jobs and freedom from imported fossil fuels. This plan combines current legislation in the form of H.R. 2306, Ending Federal Marijuana Prohibition Act of 2011, and H.R. 1831, The Industrial Hemp Farming Act of 2011.
The value of medical cannabis is well known and quantifiable. Patent number 6630507 issued to the US government confirms the medicinal properties. That alone should be sufficient for recategorization of the plant for decriminalization.
Hemp seed oil as a bio-fuel could make this country energy-independent and wean us off of fossil fuels. Popular Mechanics magazine in 1938 ran an article entitled “The New Billion Dollar Crop.” It could become the first $1T crop if just recategorized and allowed to be grown domestically. It was outlawed during the “reefer madness” madness by corporate entities that saw hemp as a huge competitor. But, Republican House Judicial Chairman Lamar Smith won’t allow it out of committee.
My suggestion(s):
Legalize cannabis, tax it to provide funding for a national healthcare system.
Outsource the growing of cannabis to Mexico to provide a cash crop that facilitates Mexican citizens to stay home and grow this crop instead of illegally entering the USA.
Outsource the growing of cannabis to Afghan and Moroccan farmers to provide alternative cash crops to growing poppy plants (opium / heroin). Currently Afghanistan produces over 80% of the world’s illicit poppy crops.
Cannabis legalization would create new jobs for American companies manufacturing equipment and nutrients for home-grown cannabis.
If any of this makes sense, please contact your elected representatives.
