Throughout his career, Mr. Shafer has dedicated himself to professional development. A Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS), he is a Fellow for the International Society of Certified Employee Benefit Specialists. Furthermore, Richard Shafer taught a series of CEBS courses at Boston University and has contributed to several CEBS textbooks. During his service to the institution's Foundation, Mr. Shafer worked directly with the university's chancellor. As the board's Vice Chairman, he collaborated with other community leaders to further the California State University’s mission and goals. A resident of Madison since 2005, Richard Shafer provides advisory services for retirement plan fiduciaries, specializing in nonprofit organizations and individuals with special needs. As Well and Good’s founder and retirement plan expert, he has worked with schools and colleges, both large and small, nationwide.
