Rick Cockrill, a northern Virginia native, has over 27 years of experience in the real estate industry, with 24 years as a broker. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from George Mason University in accounting. He is a graduate of the Realtors Institute (GRI), Certified Residential Specialists (CRS), Accredited Buyers Representative (ABR), Accredited Buyer Representative Manager (ABRM), and is Virginia State Certified in Risk Management. He has been an instructor since 1992 and is currently a member of the Virginia Association of Realtors (VAR) Professional Standards Road Show teaching ethics and professional standards across the state. He was President of the Dulles Area Association of Realtors (DAAR) in 2001. In December of 1997 he was inducted into the DAAR "Hall of Fame" for his contributions to the association and real estate industry. In 1998 he received the DAAR "Code of Ethics" award; in 1999 he received the DAAR "Realtor of the Year" award - a the top honor bestowed on Realtor members. In 2000 he received the DAAR "Realtor Political Action Award" and in 2006 he received VAR’s Code of Ethic’s Leadership Award. He has been a member of the NAR Honor Society for more than 15 years and is a member of the DAAR Professional Honor Society. Rick is a graduate of the first class (2005) of the Virginia Leadership Academy. A great honor, he is a member of the Omega Tau Rho Fraternity of the NAR - bestowed upon Realtors recognized for exemplary service. Rick has sold or been Broker in the sale of over $3.1 billion in total Real Estate sales.
Rick started his career with Walsh & Associates in Purcellville were he practiced for 11 years. While there he opened Walsh Institute of Real Estate in 1992. In 1997 he moved to RE/MAX in Leesburg, where he was the principal broker and partner until moving to Keller Williams in May of 2006. He now works as the Team Leader and Broker of the Leesburg brokerage. He is a licensed broker in Virginia, Maryland and West Virginia.
Rick lives with his wife and two children on their horse farm near Purcellville. He is committed to his community through his involvement as past Treasurer of 20 years and a “Life Member” of the local volunteer fire department. Rick's hobbies include his family first, training, breeding and racing thoroughbred racehorses, golf, hunting and continuing his education.
