Roman Hitchev
A medical doctor and administrator with years of relevant experience, Roman Hitchev provides executive management as Vice President International with the health care company, Osteotech, in Eatontown, New Jersey. A professional with many ties to the medical community in both the United States and Europe, Roman Hitchev is the recently elected President of the European Association of Tissue Banks (EATB). He also serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bulgarian Association of Tissue Banks (BgATB).
Roman Hitchev is a native of Bulgaria, and he practices in his country as the President and Chief Medical Officer of the Osteocentre Bulgaria. He assists the tissue bank by coordinating donor organs and tissue distribution for recipients around the globe.
Prior to his position at Osteotech, Roman Hitchev served as Executive Director of the Washington, D.C., Lions Eye and Tissue Bank and Research Foundation, Inc. During his time in this important role, Roman Hitchev also attended the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, where he completed his M.B.A. in Medical Services Management. Previously, he assumed the responsiblities of Transplant Procurement Coordinator at the Washington Regional Transplant Consortium in Vienna, Virginia.
Educated in Bulgaria as well as the United States, Roman Hitchev completed medical studies at the Medical University of Varna in Varna, Bulgaria, as well as health care administration work at the National Academy of Health Sciences in Sofia. He is board certified in public health and health care management in Bulgaria.
Roman Hitchev completed a Graduate Diploma from the U.S. Army Academy of Health Sciences in Houston and graduated with distinction from the U.S. Defense Language Institute’s Foreign Language Center. Working with tissue banks around the globe, Roman Hitchev continues to oversee coordination and connection of medical facilities and transplant patients.
