Kara-Jayne Thorn

My name is Kara Thorn (pseudonym is Ruby Blackthorn) and I am currently a 3rd year BA Photography student at Farnham University of Creative Arts. My keen interest in photography developed from a life long ambition of art. I didn’t start photography until I was in College, where I quickly applied for all of the art based courses I could get into, which included; Digital Media, Fine Art, Textiles and Media studies. Photography quickly became my prefer art form, the freedom, creativity and technical sides drew me in.

I now work as a self- employed photographer for a small company called Splash Photos. Splash Photos is a digital photography concession. I work at and in the pool with families and children, photographing happy memories (with consent) such as babies first swim, family outings and birthdays.

My goals in life are to finish my Degree in Photography, then to become a college/ university teacher. Later on down the line I would like to do a Masters degree in Fine Art and a degree in Art Therapy. It will take time, but will be worth it in the long run.
