Russell Klein, LEED AP®, is a waste management professional, public speaker and community organizer operating out of Washington, DC. As the former municipal Community Recycling Education Coordinator and Trainer for the District of Columbia, Russell served in varying roles from Public Educator to Recycling Committee Chairman, to “Green Jobs” training coordinator, for over a decade.

Earning the reputation of "Trash Whisper" (one who intuitively understands the reasons for, and sees the solutions to, waste reduction and recycling challenges), Russell was the only full-time city employee dedicated to assisting regional businesses, community groups, schools, and regional events with waste reduction strategies and regulatory compliance. Respected for his breadth of knowledge, strong presentation skills, and collaborative spirit, Russell is proud to have developed the Material Resource Sustainability Internship (MRSI), an annual summer program under the DC government developing college students into competent facilitators of sustainability initiatives in schools and businesses.
