Mr. S. Baskaran, is a third generation judge serving Tamil Nadu Judiciary. He is currently a senior District Judge and has a career spanning over 35 years in the legal field.
Having graduated with a Bachellorate in Economics , he went on to pursue a Degree in Law from the Pondicherry Law College. On graduating, he joined the Office of Mr.Biksheswaran and practiced at the Madras High Court, dealing primarily with property litigation suites.
After a successful practice stint as a lawyer for over 8 years, he chose to join the state judicial service and got recruited to serve as District Munsif .
This marked the beginning of an eventful carreer ! Soon he went up the ladder and became a District Judge serving in Labor, CBI , TADA and NDPS courts delivering landmark judgements(refer link below).
He has also held posts with administrative responsibilites and conducted several legal camps and schemes in districts he served to his credit.
He also took up responsibilities with the Tamil Nadu State Judicial Officers Association and worked towards the welfare of fellow officers. He did so by serving in various capacities, as secretary/president of the TNJOA.
As secretary of TNJOA, he mooted the idea of having a consolidated contact list of all serving judicial officers in tamil nadu cadre. The result of this idea was the launch of first ever Judical Officer's Directory. This soon went on to be replicated in other states as well.
Another feather in his cap, was the first ever, South India Judicial Officers conference , that he organised during his tenure as President of TNJOA. It served as a platform for officers from the four southern states of India to come together , share knowledge and discuss common issues faced by them.
Over weekends you can find him hiking, chasing deer and tigers in the forests of south India or quitely reading a tamil historical novel sipping filter kaapi.
Open to discuss/debate on law/politics in India, topics related to cricket and history or simply to share stories from my encounters with my many animal friends!
