Dr. Sakiliba Mines MD

Within the last 10 years, alternative medicine expert Dr. Sakiliba Mines has been called upon by the U.S. Department of Health to provide her knowledge of nontraditional therapy and treatment options. From 2000 to 2003, Dr. Mines helped to enhance the Department of Health’s understanding of the workings of acupuncture by serving on a committee of experts dedicated to its study. Then from 2004 to 2008, Dr. Sakiliba Mines served as the Medical Director with the Rejuvenation and Detoxification Center of the National Integrated Health Associates (NIHA).

Dr. Sakiliba Mines possesses a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry with an emphasis on Nutrition from Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia. She also holds a Doctor of Medicine from Hahnemann Medical College (now the Drexel University College of Medicine). Following her tenure as a student at Hahnemann Medical College, Dr. Mines underwent professional training at Howard University Hospital, where she continued to educate herself in various alternative therapies such as acupuncture, reflexology, chelation therapy, and colon hydrotherapy. After beginning her professional career as a Nutrition Counselor with the Southside Medical Center in Atlanta, Georgia, Dr. Sakiliba Mines transitioned into a position as a Nutrition Education Workshop Coordinator with the Opportunities Industrialization Centers of America in 1976.

A certified practitioner of chelation therapy, Dr. Sakiliba Mines also belongs to the International Association for Colon Hydrotherapy, the National Congress of Black Women, and the International Commission for Women of African Descent.
