Samirah Boksmati
A classically trained pianist, teacher, Biologist, volunteer, caregiver....I have played the part of many roles in these short 25 years of mine.
My greatest loves: music and nature.
I have learned over the years that no experience, good or bad, should be taken for granted. It opens our eyes and makes us who we are today.
My heart has always been drawn to helping others, hence my involvement with AmeriCorps. Empathy is learned through experience, it does not come naturally.
My life experience has taught me that hardship and loss is really a defining factor in our lives; it can make us or break us. This is a lesson I learned too early in life. Despite adversity I have faced over the years, I still manage to succeed in most everything I try.
I received my bachelors degree from California University of Pennsylvania where I enjoyed the fresh air and simplicity of the country side. A perfect place for a girl who spent her childhood picking flowers in the valley of the Rocky Mountains.
I completed my degree and like a whirlwind, unexpectedly found myself teaching English in South Korea. I have been traveling around Asia for the last several months, and I can honestly say it's nice to be home.
I'm looking forward to that next step in this wonderful journey of life :)
