Samuel S. Ahn, MD, offers his patients at DFW Vascular Group and University Vascular Associates treatment backed by three decades of pioneering research, training, and experience in advanced vascular surgery and related care. He specializes in endovascular and other low-impact surgery techniques, abdominal aortic aneurysm treatment, and thoracic aortic aneurysm repair. Samuel S. Ahn, MD, holds extensive experience in carotid artery disease.. A 1974 graduate of The University of Texas at Austin and 1978 graduate of the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, Samuel S. Ahn, MD, received an East Texas Chest Foundation Fellowship in 1976 that enabled him to pursue research on the pathophysiology and chemotherapy of atypical mycobacteriosis. In 1978, he joined the Ronald Reagan University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Medical Center as a general surgery intern, and he continued in residency positions for the next five years at the center and at the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine. In 1984, Samuel S. Ahn, MD, transitioned into a position as Adjunct Assistant Professor of Surgery at the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine, taking on additional duties as a Research and Clinical Fellow in Vascular Surgery at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center. Samuel S. Ahn, MD, maintained attending physician and teaching affiliations with the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine and the Ronald Regan UCLA Medical Center throughout the 1990s, while working primarily as Attending Surgeon & Chief of Vascular Surgery Section at the Olive View–UCLA Medical Center in Sylmar, California. In 1999, Samuel S. Ahn, MD, was promoted to Professor of Surgery and Director of Endovascular Surgery at the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine and continued in both positions until 2006. In 2003, he was presented with the Golden Scalpel Award by the UCLA Division of Vascular Surgery, recognizing his dedication to instructional and surgical excellence. Samuel S. Ahn, MD, maintained the title of America‘s Top Surgeons by the editors of the Guide to America’s Top Surgeons. He also gave the first courses in endovascular surgery in the US and Europe, the first course for the Annual UCLA Symposium in Vascular and Endovascular Surgery, the first vascular laser course at UCLA, co-authored the first textbook in endovascular surgery, and gave the first endovascular training course for the SVS and EVS. Dr. Ahn has mentored over forty students and twenty fellows over the past 20 years.
