- Deputy chair leading on Education & Training 2016-2019.
Protection during COVID-19
- Worked throughout the pandemic to stand up for junior doctor rights, from PPE, to training, to working conditions, to access to vaccination
Standing up for doctors
- Battled to protect junior doctors breaks and recoup their lost earnings as a single claimant test case in the High Court (Hallett v Derby) (and won in the Court of Appeal)
- Oversaw £10 million allocated to Trusts for fatigue facilities
- Organised picket lines and protests across London, Kent, Surrey and Sussex as co-chair of South Thames 2015-17.
Safeguarding and improving training
- Worked with stakeholders to improve flexibility in training, including:
- Category 3 less than full time training
- Out of Programme (Pause)
- Improvements to the interdeanery transfer system
- Better ability to transfer competencies between training programme, and from out of programme experiences
- Self-development time for Foundation Doctors
