Hi! My name is Sarah Ahmed and I was born in Marietta, Georgia. I went to Walton High School and was in the graduating class of 2014. I am currently a junior at the University of Georgia.

My major is Computer Science and I am particularly interested in Web Development within the field. I really enjoy math and that is what sparked my interest in pursing my degree in Computer Science.

My long term goals would be to have found my dream job, have travelled around the world and be at peace with life! My short term goals would be to graduate college and work for a company where I can learn and excel in.

January:

In the month of January I had the pleasure of learning a lot in our business communication class. We learned about memos, letters, and effective ways to communicate in business with employers. It has helped me understand how the world of business works. We understood the writing process and the forms of business messages. We learned about ways to talk to one another via text and email. As this has all helped me understand how to communicate in the workspace. I am thankful for learning more than I would have ever known. January was a great start to the semester!

May - End of the semester:

I had a great semester this Spring. I have learned a lot from taking the business communication class with Professor Dorris. I enjoyed the service learning project, my group and I had done. We wanted to target refugees as they hold a special place in all of our hearts. We proposed our idea and acted upon it by visiting Athens pinewood library and teaching the young kids English.

Another assignment that I learned a lot from was the resume and cover letter report. I had always struggled with what to put on my resume but got a great understanding of it after Professor Doris explained to the class how it should be done. I also am thankful for learning about the cover letter as employers like having that for reference.

I also enjoyed the international report. I chose India to write and talk about in my presentation. It was nice learning about their business practices and how their economy is.

Overall, this was a great course taught by an amazing professor. I learned so much and am happy this will help me in the future when communicating in the business world!
