Scott Hanley, author of The Dad Connection: A Bridge to Your Children, is an inspirational guide for parents who want to deepen their relationships with their children by applying simple, relatable, and basic principles. His advice is honest and real, thanks to his many anecdotes drawn from personal experiences that span his sons' lives from birth through adolescence.
Scott Hanley was born and raised in Indiana, graduating from Indiana University in 1970 with a bachelor's degree in zoology. After postgraduate work as a research assistant in the neuro-physio-anatomy department, his entrepreneurial spirit awoke, leading him through successful careers as a mobile 4-star restaurateur, owner of an award-winning remodeling company, frequent talk show guest and co-host on a premier morning talk show in his hometown of Portland, Oregon.
His most rewarding endeavor to date, though, began in the early 1980's when Scott found himself thrust into the role of single father to his two sons and later a third adoptive son, all while balancing his active home remodeling business. To help understand the often overwhelming crash course on single parenting, he began recording his thoughts about his experiences and daily interactions with his sons. He screwed down an old voice recorder to the floor of his truck, and each morning as he made his way to the job site through the slow flow of Boston traffic, he would talk into the recorder about events and issues that arose around raising his boys. Those many monologues and daily reflections became the inspiration behind The Dad Connection (www.thedadconnection.com.)
