Ross Wilding

Current Occupation: Lead Level Designer at Travellers Tales.

For nearly a decade, I have dedicated my life to designing video games. My aspirations are to create high quality game experiences that will immerse and inspire players in the same way so many games have previously done to me.

Games have played a large part in my life since I first became hooked on the NES at just two years old. But it all really began in 2006, when I joined Salford University (UK) to study a BSc degree in ‘Computer & Video Games’. There I spent the next three years learning the key fundamentals of building games from every department, where I chose to specialise my expertise in design. This journey culminated in the development of a small team project we called Cheeks of Steel, which was a full conversion mod of Unreal 3.

Just before graduating with first class honours, I began my career at TT, where I have spent the last five years working on many of LEGO’s most prestigious titles in various design roles. The most recent of these include The LEGO Movie and LEGO City Undercover, both for which I was Lead Level Designer.

In my spare time, I try to design and work on personal projects, generally using software such as Unreal and the CryEngine. Whilst these projects can be anything, they tend to focus more on slightly darker tones than my day job, inspired by games like Silent Hill, Alan Wake, Bioshock and The Legend of Zelda series.

Some of my other passions include film, storytelling, animals and mythological creatures, architecture and other interesting environments, horror and sci-fi.
