Sepideh Moayed

A graduate of Hahnemann Medical College in Philadelphia, Dr. Sepideh Moayed earned her doctorate of medicine in 1994. After graduation, she remained in Philadelphia to complete a general medical internship and residency with the University of Pennsylvania Health Systems. Dr. Sepideh Moayed subsequently completed a residency in radiology through the University of Maryland in Baltimore. During this residency, she contributed to several peer-reviewed articles that appeared in publications such as RadioGraphics and the American Journal of Roentgenology.
Early in the course of her career as a radiologist, in 2001, Dr. Sepideh Moayed headed the radiology residency program at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia. She moved to California in 2002 and joined VRI, Valley Radiology Incorporated working in both private practice and hospital based practice. radiology services and was affiliated with Regional Medical Center of San Jose, El Camino Hospital and the former Los Gatos Community Hospital. Since 2009, and 2012, she has provided radiology services and patient care at Mirage imaging Center and Los Gatos Medical Center respectively.
For the past year, Dr. Moayed has concurrently provided general preventative care as the founder and chief executive officer of Preventative Medicine. The Los Gatos practice employs holistic prophylactic modalities to prevent common diseases and disorders that range from diabetes and emphysema to depression and anxiety. She strongly believes that disease prevention is key. She emphasizes that despite scientific advances, "many chronic disease processes, though treatable, are not curable at the present time". She agrees that "a picture is worth a thousand words" and uses imaging findings to motivate her patients to optimize their health. She has had success helping patient quit smoking by utilizing various evidence based techniques recommended by the American Society of Addiction Medicine as well as images from the patient's low dose chest CT scans to achieve abstinence. In these times of the COVID-19 pandemic, she says it is of utmost importance to take care of our chronic care patients and provide effective treatment and prevention, whenever and wherever possible.
