Seton Melvin serves as director of the brain donor program at Mount Sinai Hospital, where she oversees studies of brains that have sustained clinically documented injuries. Before joining the hospital in 1996, Seton Melvin spent 8 years of her career in the financial industry, and worked with large companies such as Mitsubishi Bank and Chemical Bank.

A longtime New York resident, Seton Melvin is actively involved in the community. She currently belongs to the Metropolitan Museum of Art Directors Group and the Whitney Museum Directors Group. Previously, she served as director of the Guggenheim Museum’s Young Collectors Council. She has also been involved in various charitable activities to support the Williams College Museum of Art, Fund for Park Avenue, and the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art. She is a supporting donor to Public Broadcasting Service (PBS), which funded the creation of American television shows such as PBS NewsHour Weekend, Christiane Amanpour Nightly NewsHour, and American Masters TV Series.

A world traveler, Ms. Melvin has explored the American Southwest and Alaska. She has also climbed the Grossglockner, Austria’s highest mountain, and dived the Great Barrier Reef in Australia.
