Shannon Egan

Liverpool, NY

On March 30, 2014 I shaved my head to raise money and awareness for childhood cancer research. St. Baldrick's is a fantastic volunteer charity organization, and I have been inspired by my friend's 10 year old son, who I watched being born (and almost not caught on the way out).

I turned 41 last year. By boyfriend and I have tried to conceive through fertility treatments, which have been unsuccessful.

I am a nurse, a prolific crafter, a fortunate daughter.

I'm in debt up to my ears. I'm bad with finances and am working to pay it off but it's difficult.

I passed my hunter's safety course 2 years ago, and am working to kill & eat something. Within reason. Possums are off the menu. I don't supporting hunting for sport.

I love photography. Im fortunate to be good at crafting. I bead, I crochet, I knit. I'm not afraid to try anything once.

I tend to give up if I can't do something good right away.

My grandma gave me one of her sets of china. For a year, that was my tableware. She passed this along to me. There's no sense in owning something of value if you don't actually use it.

I'm bipolar, and have been successfully medicated for about four years.

I'm verbose.

I'm also stubborn, almost to a fault.

I'm a Whovian.

I'm an avid reader, and love audiobooks because they allow me to multitask.

I rescued a baby turtle from the parking lot of a large grocery store last year. She's quadrupled in size, and already needs a larger tank.

My meds for bipolar are being adjusted, which has left me with such significant mood lability I can't watch My Cat From Hell on Animal Planet. Seeing my provider in the morning because she won't change meds without an appointment.
