Chantel Gibbs

Fashion designer, Chantel Gibbs, quickly known as Shannon to friends of the fashion industry, started designing at the age of 11, while making her first collection of hand sewn hand bags. From that day onward, she knew that she wanted to be a fashion designer. As a young girl Gibbs would always get the urge to take apart her clothes and remake or create things from scratch. Through out Gibbs teen years, she struggled with the thought of going after something that she felt so passionate about; it wasn’t until Gibbs reached her senior year in high school, when she started to take the necessary steps to begin a career in fashion. She enrolled her self in Wood Tobe Coburn, where she began her studies in fashion design. Finding a job was difficult once Gibbs graduated from Wood Tobe Coburn; and after a year or so of not having any luck, Gibbs looked upon dental assisting, an industry that she took seriously for about two and a half years. While working as a dental assistant, Gibbs began to realize that she wasn’t as passionate about anything other than making garments that men and women would appreciate everywhere…she knew exactly where she needed to be, and what she needed to do. During the summer of 2010, Gibbs ran into a picture of herself in elementary school, standing in front of a display of her hand made handbags. That’s when Gibbs decided that it was time to take her vision seriously, knowing that this was what she really wanted to do. She decided to launch her line, Shannon Shenone, in honor of her late uncle “Shannon”. Gibbs has fond memories of when “Uncle Shannon” was alive and how much he inspired her to become a designer, with his beautiful clothes and jewelry designs. Since then, everything that Gibbs did, in regards to Shannon Shenone, mixes the elements of her edgy, sexy, and classy designs, along with her uncles unpredictable and innovative style. Although the line is in its early stages, Gibbs mission is to have everyone looking and feeling good while wearing “ Shannon Shenone”. She believes that everyone should “Let life be their runway”, and plans to do so through the movement of what is now, “Shannon Shenone”
