Sharon Gilmour-Glover
From an outside perspective, it appears as though I have had 2 different and distinct careers; one as an environmental educator and one as a business consultant. Certainly, if someone had told me 20 years ago I’d be working in business and loving it, I would have thought they were insane. The common thread is helping people become aware of, unlock and express their full potential. I was drawn to environmental education because I wanted to help make the world a better place. I wanted to help people experience deeply, our connection with everything else on this planet. It was the interconnectedness of it all that ignited my passion. In the early 1990’s when I met my husband, I got introduced to the world of business. Tim gave me a book which changed me forever. New Traditions in Business: Spirit and Leadership in the 21st Century is a collection of essays, which explore how business and work must shift beyond the traditional concerns of productivity, quality and profit, to a broader focus which balances work life and inner life. While reading it, I had a blinding flash of insight; business is the biggest lever we have for making deep, meaningful and sustainable change and, business, like life on this planet, is deeply interconnected. In that interconnectedness lies chaos and unlimited potential. Again, it was the interconnectedness of it all that ignited my passion. In an instant, I knew I needed to find a way to participate in that large, global conversation. Since then, I have spent my days working with people who are passionate, dedicated and driven to realise their vision. It is never boring, always engaging and I am most grateful to have found my way to here.
