After studying criminal justice and completing a series of general education courses at Scott Community College in Bettendorf, Iowa, Shawn Beaird relocated to Normal, Illinois, to study business at Illinois State University. He earned his bachelor’s degree in business management, with honors, in 2007. Over the course of Shawn Beaird’s career, he has overseen daily operations at River City Ford in Davenport, Iowa, and served as an electrical engineer and supervisor at Loyalty Locomotives in Tyler, Texas.
Shawn Beaird currently serves Louisiana Railways in Bossier City, Louisiana, as an electrical engineer. His daily duties involve inspecting Gulf Coast region locomotives, diagnosing any problems they might have, and ensuring that they meet all industry codes and Federal Railroad Administration regulations.
When he isn’t working, Mr. Beaird enjoys skydiving, scuba diving, and riding his motorcycle and Jet Ski. A mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, he has also volunteered at a local children’s hospital and a soup kitchen.
