Sherlinda Dix

My name is Sherlinda Dix. I am an actress and entrepreneur. Early on, I became interested in the Performing Arts. I auditioned and was cast in all available school productions during my elementary and high school years. Additionally, I attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, and the Alvin Ailey School of Dance in New York City. Later, I attended Adelphi University in New York and graduated Magna cum Laude/Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Performing Arts while working at Playhouse on the Mall in New Jersey. My career began with performances throughout Manhattan, and Production Coordinating for a company in the Puck Building located in SoHo. I became a member of New York Women in Films. After locating to the District of Columbia and performing with San Quentin Players, I accepted a call to manage a touring production of The Wizard of OZ for Family Theatre Group throughout the southeast. At the end of the tour, I moved to Hollywood, California and worked as a Production Coordinator for Black and White Television while auditioning as an Actress. I became a member of Screen Actors Guild, American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, and Actors Equity Association. As an Actress, I performed voice-overs, was cast in industrials, commercials, radio spots, and television shows. I was a featured player on shows such as Working, Ellen, and ER. I received a nomination by NAACP for Best Actress for my performance in The Chest for the role of Aunt Mavis. At a pageant in Beverly Hills, I was crowned Miss African Times and appointed Ambassador to Africa. In Africa, I was assigned a tour guide, and liaison that coordinated dinner invitations, press conferences, and guest appearances on Senegals widespread talk show. We toured other villages to meet officials in Mali, Sierra Leone, and Goree Island. When I returned to the East Coast, I was cast in Porgy and Bess, a production of Washington National Opera Company at the Kennedy Center. It was in 1987 that I began developing my ideas which formed my current six businesses.
