Shirley's formal education in music began at the prestigious Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, where she pursued her Bachelor of Music (Hons) degree. During her four years at RWCMD, she immersed herself in the world of music, focusing on her love for the flute and expanding her horizons with a strong interest in orchestral music. Notably, she had the privilege of studying under esteemed professors such as Jonathan Burgess, Nic Dowton, and Sarah Newbold.
