After obtaining his bachelor's degree in history and eastern European and Russian studies at the University of Washington in Seattle, Slade Neighbors received his juris doctorate cum laude from the Whittier College School of Law. Slade Neighbors also earned induction into the Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity and wrote articles for the Whittier Law Review, where he served as editor.

Throughout the following years, Slade Neighbors gained extensive experience in the legal field, particularly in the field of workers' compensation law. A certified specialist in that field through the State Bar of California, he also became certified as a medicare secondary payer professional (MSCC) and a medicare set aside consultant (CMSP).

Since 1995, he has operated his own law firm headquartered in Encino, California, where he focuses his practice on legal defense for workers' compensation issues. He also advises clients on a variety of litigation, manages file appeals and settlements, and trains attorneys to work in his office.

His professional memberships include the American Bar Association and the San Fernando Bar Association.
