Stephen F. Been presently acts as a residential and commercial real estate developer. As the CEO of Legacy Communities LLC, Mr. Been develops properties for first-time home buyers throughout the Southeast. In 2007, Legacy Communities closed more than 1,500 transactions. The company earned the 2009 Homebuilder of the Year acknowledgment from Professional Builder Magazine.
Prior to starting Legacy Communities, Stephen F. Been earned his Bachelor degree from the University of Georgia in Athens where he studied Finance. In addition to excelling in the classroom, Mr. Been stood out as an athlete. Before attending college, he succeeded as a preparatory student at Frederica Academy of St. Simons Island. Mr. Been stood out as a soccer and basketball star for five years, garnering recognition and awards for his talent and performance. As a soccer player, he earned the Most Valuable Player distinction on three occasions in addition to being selected for the All-State, All-Star, and All-Region soccer squads. As the soccer team’s captain, Stephen F. Been led the team to a State Championship. In basketball, Mr. Been earned similar accolades with selections to the Holiday Classic All-Tournament, All Region, and All State teams. He still holds the school’s rebounding record and was selected as the “Most Athletic” student among the seniors. In recognition of his exceptional athleticism and academic performance, Mr. Been received the Scholar/Athlete Award from the United States Army Reserve.
In addition to his current business pursuits, Stephen F. Been lends support to multiple charities. In 2009, he was honored with an induction into the Frederica Academy Sports Hall of Fame. Mr. Been previously sat on the Frederica Academy Board of Visitors. He makes his home in Atlanta.
