In 1994, with more than 20 years of experience in psychiatry, Stephen Raffle, MD, of Kentfield, CA, became one of the first professionals in his field to become board certified in forensic psychiatry and clinical psychiatry. Since then, he has continued his work as a clinician and as a consultant to attorneys, courts, and employers across the country. Stephen Raffle, MD, has offered his forensic opinion on more than 5,000 medical-legal matters, including employment litigation and emotional distress, and has offered expert testimony in more than 800 legal proceedings.
Dr. Stephen Raffle formerly served as an instructor at Hastings College of the Law Center for Trial and Appellate Advocacy, where he taught attorneys direct and cross-examination techniques of expert witnesses. For 20 years, he was also an assistant clinical professor of psychiatry at the University of California, San Francisco's School of Medicine, and he worked as a psychiatric consultant at several neurological rehabilitation inpatient care centers. In addition, Dr. Raffle has consulted with California public defenders, district attorneys, and private law firms as well as public and private employers.
Stephen Raffle, MD, has earned certification as a Qualified Medical Examiner through the State of California's Workers' Compensation Medical Unit, a division of the Department of Industrial Relations. He serves as an independent medical examiner through the U.S. Department of Labor.
