Once he began working as a school coach, Steve Carroll led multiple teams to championships. He won both district and bi-district championships for the first time in the history of Rice High School in Altair, Texas. At Bishop Montgomery High School, he was the first individual to simultaneously coach division one track, basketball, and football in the state of California. At San Gorgonio High School, he took the football team to the playoffs, a feat the team hadn't achieved in 32 years.
